Description
Superthriller - Superthriller 1
A series of three limited edition 7" singles 'Ahjustwannadance', 'Smoking Kills' and ' I’m Gonna Ask To Leave At 3 So Call Me' established Superthriller as a name to drop amongst London's record shop moochers and carrier bag DJs, with all three selling out in no time. Their functionally titled debut album was finished last summer, and after some early copies doing the rounds at the tail end of last year – sufficient enough for Rough Trade to name it as one of their albums of the year – Superthriller 1 is now getting the proper release it so deserves.
Managing to pack an amazing range of twisted love songs, inane insults, sexual braggadocio, butt quaking funk and wry humour across its 14 tracks, Superthriller 1 is a thrilling debut. Highlights include forthcoming single 'Ahjustwannadance' (described by one Radio 1 listener as sounding like "LCD Soundsystem having a fight with Beck over a Gameboy), the classic pop swagger of 'Mary Mary' and the filthy funk of 'Smoking Kills', but frankly this is one lucky dip that you just can't lose.
With a shared background in theatre, a suitably inventive live show has always been part of the Superthriller plan. Recent events have given these plans a greater urgency, as, having fallen in love with a copy of Superthriller 1, Beck has asked the group to support him on his forthcoming European tour. Obviously an opportunity not to be missed, expect a show that packs in as much creative energy as the album.
